This Week's Tour News

Who: Cave Singers + Love As Laughter
When: May 5th + May 6th
Where: Union Hall + Mercury Lounge
More Dates
Listen: Cave Singers - "Dancing On Our Graves"
Love As Laughter - "Temptation Island"
Thoughts: Not really sure how this is gonna work out, the bands don't sound that similar to each other, but it's a very interesting pairing and something I'd like to see. Unfortunately for me I'll be attending the Friction show on Monday the 5th and the No Age show on Tuesday the 6th. I believe those are both sold out so if you don't have tix to either go to one of these and tell me how it works out.

Who: Wolf Parade
When: July 31st
Where: Terminal 5
More Dates
Listen: Wolf Parade - "Call It A Ritual"
Thoughts: I'll have more on the new Wolf Parade on Monday but just to give you my initial thoughts - I am very underwhelmed by all nine songs. Perhaps it was terribly lofty expectations from a band that nearly made my head explode with how good their first album was. It might grow on me over the weekend though, and they are still a live experience that should not be missed.

Who: Boris
When: July 10th
Where: Webster Hall
More Dates
Listen: Boris - "Message"
Thoughts: Tuesday Smile was my recommended release, and I believe I've at least mentioned every piece of music they've released or contributed to since the release of Pink. So yeah, I think you can see that I have some affinity towards Boris that will not be muted. Also, last we saw the Japanese three piece, they were a four piece that included Michio Kurihara! Top that.

Who: Times New Viking
When: June 27th
Where: Whitney Museum
More Dates
Listen: Times New Viking - "Love Your Daughters"
Thoughts: Times New Viking is one of those bands that don't come along very often. First they show up and introduce themselves to you by kicking your face in by way of your ears. Then they don't disappear, like all the buzz bands are doing these days, instead they record an even better full album and blow your face apart completely. Now I know those are pretty high words of regard for such a young band but I mean them, and I really hope I'm at this show!

Who: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
When: October 4th
Where: WaMu Theater @ MSG
More Dates
Listen: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - "Hold On To Yourself"
Thoughts: I gotta be honest here and go on the record as saying Nick Cave has never really done anything for me and it kind of boggles my mind that he's big enough to play the Theater at the Garden. Now I know he's been around for ages and he has a shit load of fans and well I guess I just proved why I shouldn't be in shock huh. Oh well, if you like him get tickets (today), if you're like me you can wait a bit before planning what you'll be doing on a random day in October.

Who: Bloc Party + Does It Offend You, Yeah?
When: August 6th + August 7th
Where: Webster Hall
More Dates
Listen: Bloc Party - "Like eating Glass"
Does It Offend You, Yeah? - "We Are Rockstars"
Thoughts: Like Nick ave, I am completely underwhelmed by Bloc Party (with the exception of the song "Like eating Glass" which is awesome). I am completely enamored with Does It Offend You, Yeah?, but I think I'll be waiting till they come around on their own. Which should be any day now.
