This week's Band of the Week may just be the furthest from the United States that I've ever chosen. Hailing from the Czech Republic, The Tower of Dudes are a horribly named, wonderfully adept indie rock band that mix elements of folk, country, punk, and indie rock into one powerfully charged sound. When banjos mix with three chord guitar licks and sounds good you know you are doing something right and that is exactly what's going down with The Tower of Dudes. They are amazingly adept at crafting English songs too, almost shockingly so. While most European bands that sing in English normally flub a few things here or there, The Tower of Dudes just nail it in every way. They are obviously fluent in English and music and they make you feel like you are just inadequate for not being able to pull this off despite living in one of the wealthiest (not anymore) nations in the world. They are just that good. The tunes may be fairly simple overall, but they are immediate, well written, and perfectly executed. Mixing instruments like the banjo, accordion, melodica, and many more, the band is obviously looking for new ways to craft a sound that they themselves will enjoy and in the process have made something that I absolutely love! Obviously by hailing from the Czech Republic it's probably going to take a lot to get them to come over to the States, so download some of their tunes and show that they are loved out here in America and maybe they'll come out.
For now you can check them out online and if you happen to be in the Czech Republic, and believe me when I say that they just may be worth the flight out to that beautiful country to see. Well maybe that's a mild exaggeration but only a mild one!
