Monday: Goes Cube @ Lit 8:30pm $6
Here it is folks the unofficial last week of summer! Time to get ready to abandon all these out door venues that have soaked us all summer long with free music and return to the dungeons and clubs we are most used to! The darkness is good for us and the booze is better! Start tonight with a little urban metal courtesy of Goes Cube. The show is cheap, loud, and fun, plus you won't get yet unless you sweat a lot!
Goes Cube - "I Hold Grudges"
Tuesday: Vivian Girls, The Beets, Real Estate, + Best Fwends @ Death By Audio 8pm $tba
Are Vivian Girls overrated or are they better at making rock music then your fledgling garage band? Maybe you guys should drop the jealousy, backlash duo and come to the realization that this trio makes some boot stomping good tunes. Oh you'll find out when their sophomore record comes out in a few weeks or you can check 'em tonight playing a way too small for them venue with some of the bets up-and-comers around. Yeah this is a can't miss show!
Vivian Girls - "Going Insane"
The Beets - "The Devil"
Real Estate - "Fake Blues"
Best Fwends - "Bump in the Day"
Wednesday: Knight School @ Cake Shop 8pm $6
Speaking of up-and-comers, this three piece from Brooklyn are certainly getting their name thrown around quite a bit right now. If I were you I'd be getting to the Cake Shop bright and early, scoping out a spot towards the front (you know, where you can also reach the bar in time of need) and rocking the fuck out for the rest of the night.
Knight School - "Pregnant Again"
Thursday: Helado Negro @ Martini Red 8pm $tba
It's rare that recording artists on actual music labels like Asthmatic Kitty make their way out to Staten Island, but I suppose when you announce a five borough tour to celebrate the release of your new album you have to make the stop no matter how much you want to (take note Marnie Stern!). I know a bunch of folks will be rocking out with some Pitchfork beloved bands at the Insound party, but I'll be getting down to some Latin tinged dance tunes courtesy of Helado Negro!
Helado Negro - "Deja"
Friday: After the Jump Fest @ Littlefield 8pm $10 (3-day passes for $30)
Yeah, a bit of self promotion coming up right here. After the Jump is back, it's not for free this year but we've made it three days long with a ton of fantastic young bands for you to devour before everyone loves 'em! Tonight features four, truly fantastic bands you need to know! Javelin already got a Best New Track, Holiday Shores are going to be one of those can't miss bands of CMJ, Dinosaur Feathers and My Teenage Stride are locals that have been featured in a ton of places. It's gonna be a really fun night with lots of other stuff going down, so come on by!
Javelin - "Vinbrationz"
Holiday Shores - "Days Drag"
My Teenage Stride - "To Live and Die in the Airport Lounge"
Dinosaur Feathers - "Parallel July"
Saturday: After the Jump Fest @ Littlefield 2pm $10 (3-day passes for $30)
Once again, day 2 is gonna be one of the best all day parties you have ever been to! Surf rock, hip-hop, DJ's, rock bands, punk bands, noise rock, it's all here all day Saturday. Come early, get free beer for the first hour and then get ready for one kick ass party!
Das Racist - "The Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell"
Free Energy - "Dream City"
Drink Up Buttercup - "Young Ladies"
Wild Yaks - "Wish I Had A Whip"
Talk Normal - "Lemonade"
Captain Ahab & the Sea Crackens - "Surf Ninja"
Shark? - "Fear!"
Sunday: After the Jump Fest @ Littlefield 2pm $10 (3-day passes for $30)
I sincerely don't think I need to oversell bands like Suckers, I'm Turning Into, and the O'Death side project Blood Warriors, as well as the rest of the bands playing on Sunday. What I am going to tell you is that it is going to fucking pour on Sunday, like it has for every halfway decent outdoor show this summer. Grizzly Bear is gonna get rained out and you're gonna wish you were dry and seeing awesome bands. Come here for that.
Suckers - "Afterthoughts & TV"
Julianna Barwick - "Choose"
I'm Turning Into - "I'm Going"
Acrylics - "Molly's Vertigo"
Blood Warrior - "Choir"
Hospitality - "Betty Wang"

ATJ is a good lineup this year... personally Sunday is the best. Acrylics are really good.
I don't think calling Hospitality a O'Death side project is a proper descriptor, however. It's Amber's band.
Fuck yeah! I knew a Knight School mp3 would pop up sooner or later! i'm totally stoked about their LP...I saw those guys play with So Cow back in June, and they totally rock!
