Monday: My Teenage Stride, Boy Genius, + The Rabbits @ Cameo Gallery 8pm $7 [info]
We've been mentioning My Teenage Stride a lot on these pages lately! They recently wowed us at After the Jump Fest and have been playing a bunch of local shows in recent weeks. Tonight they've upped the ante though, booking a show with two former Pop Tarts' bands of the week! It's a pretty impressive lineup, especially for a Monday, so make sure you head out to North 6th for it!
My Teenage Stride - "Creep Academy"
Boy Genius - "Blame Love"
The Rabbits - "Cruel"
Tuesday: Raekwon & Friends @ Santo's Party House 9pm $50 [tix]
I fully realize that $50 is a really steep sum for most people, myself included, but if you can spring for the ticket you will see a show that is definitely worth seeing tonight. Not only is Raekwon celebrating the release of his highly anticipate Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...Pt. II, he's doing so with folks like Ghostface Killah and Method Man joining him on stage. Yeah this is gonna be a night to remember for any fan of hip hop.
Raekwon (feat. Ghostface Killah) - "Penitentiary"
Wednesday: Princeton + Phil and the Osophers @ Union Hall 7:30pm $10 [tix]
In a few weeks we'll be getting a new record from Princeton and we are here to tell you that you should be very excited to hear this wonderful record! It's full of all sorts of influences and sounds and has been in regular rotation on our stereo. Tonight the band will celebrate the album's imminent release with a "Record Release Party" at Union Hall. It's gonna be a really fun show so make sure you're there to see everyone!
Princeton - "Calypso Gold"
Phil and the Osophers - "Cheap Livin'"
Thursday: Wild Beasts @ Mercury Lounge 7:30pm $12 [tix]
Two Dancers has quickly become one of my favorite records of the year, this week Wild Beasts are invading New York for a trio of shows which just happen to be the only US dates they have schedule (at the moment). It's only their 2ns time in the States and their first in New York so these are pretty much can't miss shows from latest Best New Music recipients. Don't miss it!
Wild Beasts - "Two Dancers"
Friday: The Rapture + The Golden Filter @ The Stone Pony 7pm $17.50 [tix]
While many people are making their way up to ATP NY (and I hope I wind up being one of them!) many people will be heading the other way on the Jersey turnpike heading to the land of Springsteen and fake tans to see The Rapture. It's been a really long ass time since the band was last in the area and they aren't stopping in New York this time around so you're gonna have to make the trip to see them. It's totally worth it though as these guys put one hell of a show.
The Rapture - "No Sex for Ben"
The Golden Filter - "Hide Me"
Saturday: Destroyer @ Miller Theater 8pm $20 [tix]
The Wordless Music series has begun yet another season and tonight's Destroyer show on Columbia's campus will be another in a long string of successful shows for the innovative music series. Not sure if Dan Bejar will actually be performing Wordlessly or not, but either way it is sure to be a performance to remember.
Destroyer - "Foam Hands"
Sunday: Wakey! Wakey! @ Public Assembly 8pm $8 [info]
Any time Wakey! Wakey! plays you should make it a point to see him, but lately he's been working on some new tunes that will hopefully be going on his upcoming record. If you're lucky I'm sure he'll be trying some of the new material out tonight as well as some of the old favorites so make sure you check it out.
Wakey! Wakey! - "War Sweater"
