This Week's Live Picks

Monday: Built to Spill @ Webster Hall 7pm $30 [tix]
Even if you don't get to enjoy the three day weekend some people get today, you can still go out and have yourself a great Monday night. That's because Built to Spill are bringing their brand new album to New York for a few shows this week starting tonight. If you've never seen the band you are in for a treat, but most of you already know you're going to see when of the best live bands ever to come from the indie rock world.
Built to Spill - "Pat"

Tuesday: The Dodos + The Ruby Suns @ Music Hall of Williamsburg 8pm $15 [tix]
The Dodos followed their fantastic 2008 release Visiter with a solid effort here in 2009 and now they are bringing it to New York for a couple of shows. Of course we're a bit more excited to see New Zealand group The Ruby Suns. Last time we saw them they were absolutely owning the small Union Hall stage and there music should work just fine on the much bigger Music Hall stage. We're also hoping for a sample of some new tunes but that may be asking just a bit much.
The Dodos - "Fables"
The Ruby Suns - "There Are Birds"

Wednesday: No Age, Woods, + Silk Flowers @ (le) poisson rouge 10pm $15 [tix]
Later this week No Age will once again be soundtracking The Bear at the New Museum, before that they'll do a couple of shows of their own material to warm up and to get the kids excited. This is probably the best overall bill of the shows with Woods and Silk Flowers, each of whom are headline worthy on their own. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
No Age - "You're A Target"
Woods - "To Clean"
Silk Flowers - "Fragmented Mirror"

Thursday: Titus Andronicus, The So So Glos, + Grooms @ Knitting Factory 7pm $12 [tix]
To celebrate the release of their debut album as Grooms, the band jumped on a lineup with local stars Titus Andronicus and The So So Glos. It's not bad company to be keeping and they definitely are able to hold their own alongside these guys. Don't forget to pick up their new album at the show!
Titus Andronicus - "My Time Outside the Womb"
The So So Glos - "Throw Your Hands Up"
Grooms - "Dreamsucker"

Friday: Beach Fossils + Air Waves @ Market Hotel 8pm $7 [info]
I'm heading up to Boston for a two day jaunt to visit my brother but if you're hanging around the city I'm sure you'll be looking for something to do. My suggestion is checking out the much hyped Beach Fossils at Market Hotel. Now we haven't caught these guys with our own eyes yet but everything we've heard about them supports the claim that these guys are not to be missed.
Beach Fossils - "Vacation"
Air Waves - "Shine On"

Saturday: Art Brut + Princeton @ Maxwell's 9:30pm $15 [tix]
While up in Boston I'll be catching this bill at The Middle East so it goes without saying that you should see Art Brut whenever they come to town. They always put on a great show and in the cozy confines of Maxwell's it's sure to be an amazing experience. Add in the fantastic tunes of Princeton and you got yourself a really good show to celebrate Saturday night with.
Art Brut - "Bad Weekend"
Princeton - "Sylvie"

Sunday: Fool's Gold @ Sycamore 9pm $8 [info]
New venue, up-and-coming band, I don't have too much info for this show but sometimes I just randomly choose shows based on what I've heard. It beats seeing the boring Raveonettes again, I think.
Fool's Gold - "Surprise Hotel"
